Good evening! How have you been?
I am guilty for neglecting my blog lately. For that please forgive me *cute face.*
Anyway, I have been working on private commission to illustrate Edgar's Allan Poe: "The Raven."
Although taking it seriously, the poetry is intense and a slow burner, it builds up the suspense and leaves it to the reader's interpretation. Many illustrators have portrayed this great piece of writing, even the great Gustave Dore, whom I've admired.
Here is just a quick preview of the work in progresses for this project.
From sketchbook to the final illustration, oh yea, includes the mess on my desk.
I really like WIP, really shows the journey that really makes the cycle from having a brief to the final outcome. Maybe it's good for me to show it off, once in a while.

Took all day and this morning to finish this painting. So chuffed, because I am never that quick!

This looks great June, I especially like the close-up one of the bird screeching!
Edgar Allen Poe is one of my most favourite writers, and your illustrations for The Raven are, as always, beautiful.
Really like you're sketches here June!I wish you all the best with you're work and hope to see you at a show sometime soon.
